“Schwarzer hails West Ham’s summer signing as most exciting transfer coup, surpassing rival deals.”

West Ham United have enjoyed a remarkable summer transfer window, securing eight top-notch signings. The Hammers hit the ground running, wrapping up early deals for Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham, and Max Kilman. They continued their momentum in early August, bringing in Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug, and Guido Rodriguez. Recently, they added Jean-Clair Todibo and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to their roster.

Former Premier League goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has praised West Ham’s signings, naming Niclas Fullkrug as the most exciting summer addition. Schwarzer ranked Fullkrug above notable signings like Riccardo Calafiori, Amadou Onana, and Archie Gray. “Niclas Fullkrug,” Schwarzer told the Premier League website. “He’s over 30, but is a top-class player and fits the mould of a West Ham player.”

Fullkrug’s arrival addresses West Ham’s need for a new striker to share the goalscoring burden with Antonio and Bowen. The 31-year-old impressed for Dortmund in their Champions League run and scored for Germany at Euro 2024, demonstrating his ability to perform at the highest level. Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl praised Fullkrug, saying: “Niclas is a playmaking attacker, very strong with his head, physically impressive, convincing in one-on-one duels and unpleasant for his opponents [to face]. With all these skills, he embodies the profile we were looking for.”

Germany legend Rudi Voller also lauded Fullkrug, saying: “His strike rate is exceptional. He can probably only be compared to Gerd Muller.” West Ham’s signing spree may not be over yet, with reports suggesting a ninth addition could be made for a bargain £17million.
