Transfer Scoop: Nottingham Forest Pin Hopes on £40m Aston Villa Star as Top Target, But Everton Still in the Mix

Nottingham Forest are reportedly prioritizing Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey as their top summer target, according to a report from The Telegraph. The East Midlands club are looking to spend the funds from the recent departures of Morgan Gibbs-White and Anthony Elanga wisely, and Ramsey’s versatility and creativity make him an attractive prospect.

Ramsey, 24, has been valued at £40 million by Aston Villa, but the Villans may be willing to listen to offers. As an academy product, his sale would represent a significant profit for the club, potentially boosting their balance sheet and helping with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) issues.

The midfielder’s ability to play in various positions, including left midfield, number eight, and number 10, makes him a valuable asset. While he may not be as direct as Elanga, he could fill the creative void left by Gibbs-White’s expected departure to Tottenham Hotspur.

Forest aren’t the only club interested in Ramsey, with Everton and West Ham United also reportedly keeping tabs on the player. However, the Toffees and the Hammers are said to be behind Forest in the running. Newcastle and Tottenham have previously been linked with Ramsey, but their interests may have cooled following their respective signings of Elanga and impending signing of Gibbs-White.

It remains to be seen whether Ramsey would be open to a transfer to Forest, Everton, or West Ham, but an official approach from one of these clubs could soon reveal his intentions. With Forest preparing for a Europa League campaign and looking to maintain their Premier League momentum, securing Ramsey’s services could be a significant coup.
