EVERTON STRIKER YOUSSEF CHERMITI TO MISS START OF PREMIER LEAGUE SEASON DUE TO FOOT INJURY

August 5, 2024

Everton have been dealt a blow ahead of the new Premier League season, with striker Youssef Chermiti ruled out of the start of the campaign due to a foot injury. The 20-year-old underwent minor surgery on the injury, which he sustained in training, and will now begin a rehabilitation program under the care of Everton’s medical team.

Chermiti had impressed in pre-season, scoring two goals and providing an assist in a 3-3 draw at Sligo Rovers, and starring as a substitute in a defeat at Salford. His injury is a significant setback for Everton manager Sean Dyche, who had praised the young striker’s performances in pre-season.

Dyche described Chermiti’s injury as “a bit of a blow” and confirmed that he would be out for an extended period, saying “it will be longer than a couple of weeks”. With Everton set to begin their Premier League campaign at home to Brighton on August 17, Chermiti’s absence will be felt.

The Toffees will be hoping that Chermiti can make a speedy recovery and return to action as soon as possible. In the meantime, Dyche will have to rely on other options in attack as Everton look to build on last season’s 15th-place finish.

Chermiti’s injury is a reminder of the risks and uncertainties of pre-season, where players can easily pick up injuries that can impact their availability for the start of the campaign. Everton will be hoping that Chermiti’s setback is an isolated incident and that the rest of their squad can remain fit and healthy ahead of the new season.

The absence of Chermiti may also provide an opportunity for other young players to step up and make an impact. Everton have a talented academy and Dyche has shown a willingness to give youth a chance. This could be a chance for another player to break into the first team and make a name for themselves.

Everton’s medical team will be working hard to get Chermiti back to fitness as soon as possible. The club has a reputation for having a top-class medical department, and they will be doing everything they can to ensure that Chermiti makes a full recovery.

In the meantime, Everton fans will be wishing Chermiti a speedy recovery and hoping that he can return to action soon. The young striker has shown a lot of promise and his absence will be felt. However, with a strong squad and a talented manager, Everton will be looking to make a positive start to the season, even without Chermiti.
