Rangers Manager Danny Röhl Prepares for Life Without Tavernier as Reynolds Bid Rejected
Rangers manager Danny Röhl is set to lose captain James Tavernier at Ibrox when the season concludes, forcing the Scottish club to find a new right-back during the summer transfer window.
Their primary target to fill the void is KVC Westerlo’s Bryan Reynolds. As reported by Sport Witness on Tuesday, Rangers have shown interest in the American defender and have already made contact regarding a potential move. Both the Belgian club and the player are reportedly open to a summer departure, which would suit Röhl’s side if an agreement can be reached swiftly.
Rangers Step Up Pursuit
Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri has provided a significant update via X (formerly Twitter), revealing that Rangers have submitted a bid in the region of €2.5 million, likely including add-ons. However, Westerlo has turned down the offer, making it clear that Reynolds will not leave for that fee.
The full-back has already given his approval to move to Ibrox, leaving Rangers to strike a deal with the Belgian outfit—something that will require an improved proposal. Tavolieri did not disclose Westerlo’s exact asking price but noted that other clubs could enter the race, potentially driving up the fee.
Existing Ties Could Prove Useful
Rangers have a recent history of doing business with Westerlo, having signed left-back Tuur Rommens from them during the winter transfer window. Additionally, former Rangers assistant manager Issame Charaï has been in charge of the Belgian club since June 2025.
Charaï’s presence and the previous Rommens deal have helped maintain positive relations between the two clubs. That goodwill could benefit Rangers as they try to sign Reynolds, provided they can meet Westerlo’s valuation.
The 24-year-old Reynolds is under contract until 2027 and is currently valued at €3.5 million by Transfermarkt. This season, he has logged 3,584 minutes across 40 matches, scoring two goals and providing four assists.
