Bournemouth’s Justin Kluivert caused a stir on Saturday when he pulled down the shorts of Crystal Palace midfielder Ismaila Sarr during a strange on-pitch altercation.
The Premier League encounter at Selhurst Park ended in a goalless draw, but tensions ran high throughout. Referee Samuel Barrott handed out seven yellow cards and a red in a feisty match.
Palace defender Chris Richards was controversially dismissed just before half-time after receiving a second yellow.
As the teams returned for the second half, Kluivert was booked for a late tackle on Palace’s Daniel Muñoz. The foul sparked a confrontation with Sarr, who was also shown a yellow card for his involvement.
Following the challenge, Kluivert attempted to continue play, but Sarr blocked his path. In a bizarre reaction, Kluivert pulled down Sarr’s shorts, provoking outrage among the Palace players and igniting a scuffle between both sides, which was eventually calmed by the referee’s intervention.
