Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City have reportedly entered the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen center-back Odilon Kossounou, according to Sky Germany. Kossounou has been heavily linked with Crystal Palace as a potential replacement for Marc Guehi, who is rumored to be a target for Newcastle United.

Leverkusen’s managing director of sport, Simon Rolfes, recently acknowledged that Kossounou’s departure is possible before the end of the transfer window. “We are planning with him, but it’s certainly possible that there may still be one or two changes in our squad,” Rolfes said.

With Palace unlikely to meet the €30m required to sign Kossounou, they are reportedly turning their attention to Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix. This leaves Newcastle to compete with Wolves and Leicester for Kossounou’s signature. Although no concrete offers have been made, it is expected that the Ivory Coast international will leave Leverkusen after being an unused substitute in recent matches.

Kossounou’s potential departure comes as no surprise, given the interest from multiple Premier League clubs. The 23-year-old has impressed in the Bundesliga, and his physicality and defensive skills make him an attractive target for top-flight teams.

The competition for Kossounou’s signature is likely to intensify in the coming days, with Newcastle, Wolves, and Leicester all seeking to bolster their defensive options. Leverkusen, meanwhile, will be keen to secure a suitable transfer fee for their talented young center-back.

As the transfer window enters its final stages, the fate of Odilon Kossounou remains uncertain. One thing is clear, however: the Ivory Coast international will not be short of suitors if he does indeed leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
