West Ham United coaching staff determined to keep Mubama from joining Manchester City.

West Ham United’s coaching staff have expressed doubts about Divin Mubama’s ability to become a regular first-team player in the Premier League, according to Sean Whetstone. Whetstone, editor of 6foot2 and journalist for Claret & Hugh, revealed on August 16 that the Hammers do not believe Mubama has what it takes to play consistently in the top-flight.

As a result, West Ham are willing to let the 19-year-old forward leave, with Manchester City closing in on a transfer. Mubama’s departure comes after he failed to agree on a new contract, and the Hammers are now negotiating a compensation package with the Premier League champions.

Despite high hopes from fans, Mubama’s 12 appearances last season failed to impress, and his move to Manchester City has raised eyebrows. “A move to Man City after an underwhelming breakout campaign for the Hammers is a head-scratcher,” said Fabrizio Romano.

At City, Mubama will face stiff competition from Erling Haaland, and his first-team minutes will likely be limited. However, he will have the opportunity to learn from Haaland and develop his skills at the Etihad’s world-class facilities.

The move suits West Ham, who have signed Niclas Fullkrug and now have a striker who can deliver. While Pep Guardiola’s plan for Mubama is unclear, few West Ham fans will be holding their breath to see if he performs at Manchester City.
