“Summerville’s attitude concerns raised following West Ham transfer move.”

BBC journalist Adam Pope has revealed that he wasn’t disappointed to see Crysencio Summerville leave Leeds United for West Ham United, citing concerns over the Dutchman’s attitude. Summerville joined West Ham in a deal worth between £20million and £25million, after winning the Championship Player of the Season award last term.

Pope believes that Summerville is worth more than what West Ham paid for him, but thinks the deal isn’t bad for Leeds. Speaking on The Don’t Go To Bed Just Yet podcast, Pope said: “It’s happened, did I think it would be West Ham? No. Did I think it would be £25million? He’s worth more… But there will be add-ons and what have you.”

Pope’s concerns over Summerville’s attitude may worry West Ham fans, but there’s been little evidence to suggest it’s a genuine issue. Summerville plays with confidence, but that’s based on his ability, and he backed it up with impressive displays in the Championship last season.

The Premier League is a different standard, and Summerville will need to step up to succeed. However, Pope’s comments suggest that Summerville’s mentality may be a concern. West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui will need to give Summerville the freedom to express himself while keeping him in line to avoid potential issues.

In other news, Fenerbache’s stance on a summer move for Tomas Soucek has emerged, amid links with a summer exit.
