Nottingham Forest manager Nuno has praised Anthony Elanga following his standout performance on Saturday.
Forest kept their hopes of securing a top-four finish in the Premier League alive with a 4-2 win over Ipswich Town at Portman Road, in front of 29,878 spectators.
Elanga netted two goals for Forest, who now sit third in the Premier League with 54 points from 29 games.
While Nuno was impressed with the £15 million (BBC Sport) Swedish winger, he encouraged the 22-year-old to repeat his two-goal performance in future matches.
Last season, Elanga contributed five goals and nine assists in 25 Premier League appearances for Forest. This season, he has scored five goals and provided eight assists in 23 league starts.
Nuno shared his thoughts with BBC Sport when asked about Elanga’s first-ever Premier League brace: “The first time? He has to do it again. He was huge for us today—not only for the goals, but for his defensive work as well. He was always involved.”
Nottingham Forest’s Top Four Hopes
Forest have been a surprising force in the 2024-25 Premier League season. After finishing 17th last year, many expected them to struggle this season, but Nuno has transformed the team. With two consecutive wins in their last matches, Forest have only lost seven games all season.
While there is still potential for twists in the race for UEFA Champions League spots, Forest have been consistently strong. The team has shown resilience in bouncing back from setbacks, giving their fans reason to believe they can secure a top-four finish.
Next, Forest will face Brighton & Hove Albion away in the FA Cup quarter-finals, before returning home to take on Manchester United in the Premier League.
