August 19, 2024

West Ham United are on the verge of securing a transfer deal with Paris Saint-Germain for midfielder Carlos Soler, according to reports. The agreement is believed to be an initial 11-month loan with an obligation to buy next season, triggering a longer-term deal reportedly worth five years.

Spanish media outlets revealed this morning that Real Sociedad have dropped out of the running for Soler’s signature, paving the way for West Ham to secure the midfielder’s services. Julen Lopetegui’s influence is thought to be the deciding factor in Soler’s decision to favor a move to the Premier League.

The transfer deal is structured similarly to the one that brought Jean-Clair Todibo to West Ham from Nice, with the club’s negotiating team working creatively to spread the cost of the player and navigate Financial Fair Play (FFP) and Premier League Squad Registration (PSR) regulations.

This development comes as West Ham continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season, with Soler’s arrival expected to bolster their midfield options.
